Studies in Word-Association

This large collection documents early experimental work using timed responses to stimulus words. Jung and his colleagues examined delays, unusual answers, repetition, forgetting, and other disturbances as possible signs of emotionally charged complexes.

The studies are valuable for understanding how Jung’s idea of the complex emerged from empirical work rather than from symbolism alone.
